Golf putting is arguably the most important part of any player's game. You might be expert driver or bunker player but if you golf putting lets you down then the effort you spent in reaching the green will be for nothing. It is often said that the average golfer could knock 10 shots off his score if his golf putting techniques were sound and this article brings you 5 tips to help you achieve this.

1)  A good golf putting practice drill is to place a few balls a distance of about a foot from the hole. Try to hit them all into the hole and when you've done this with all five move to two feet away and repeat procedure. Then move to three feet away and so on.

2)  Do your golf putting practice with both your eyes shut.  You will become more aware of how the rest of your body moves and you can "tune in" to how your shoulders sway and your body twists. Your body should be a pendulum when you swing the  club. This may sound a little weird, but try it and you might  be surprised at how much your golf putting improves when you open your eyes.

3)  The most important feature in successful golf putting is to stay relaxed. If you feel yourself tightening up, just stop and walk away. Above all, stay loose and relaxed.

4)  Don't move your head too soon. This is one of the major causes of missed putts. With the shorter putts wait for the sound of the ball dropping into the cup before looking up. This will ensure that you won't move your head too soon and you'll soon find that the ball drops into the hole more regularly.

5)  If you cannot get to a golf course then you can easily carry out your putting practice at home. Golf putting mats can be bought cheaply from places such as Ebay, so you can do your golf putting drills any time.

These are just a few of the many methods and tips which can help you become an expert putter and putting these into practice will certainly help you become more consistent. But regular putting practice is the key to better golf putting, so make sure keep practicing in order to become the putter you want to be.
